Mosque History

Beginning

Asalama’aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

We are a small charity organisation formed in 2009 for the purpose of establishing a masjid in the Broomhall area of Sheffield, which for many years lacked any prayer facilities. The name of our organisation is Al-Huda Islamic Centre and so far we’ve managed to purchase a free-hold building and land, obtained planning

Central Mosque

Since the mosque’s erection, it has become a focal point for the Muslim community. During its operation, Muslims have used the mosque for events, meetings, lectures, studies and community and educational purposes. Many of the original founders of the mosque committee still make up the mosque management or are trustees of the mosque.

Mosque Design

The mosque itself has got two floors. The  existing  building  has  been  disused  for almost  20  years  and has  a  very outdated outlook  from  the  street.  The  building  has  been  redesigned  to  create  a  fresh, contemporary  extension  extending  across  Hanover  Street  using  a  combination  of materials such as cedar cladding, white self cleaning render and grey aluminium framed windows.  The existing building has been  face lifted with similar materials to complete the composition of the entire structure.
